FPV Cinematography Inside the McLaren Technology Centre
Filming inside the McLaren Technology Centre required a very different approach from conventional aerial work. The building’s flowing architecture, highly reflective surfaces, valuable vehicles and tightly controlled interior spaces demanded precise, deliberate flying and careful route planning throughout.
The FPV sequences were designed to move through the headquarters rather than simply document it, using close-proximity camera movement to reveal the relationship between the architecture, the Boulevard and McLaren’s historic racing cars. The aim was to create a sense of motion and engineering even inside a largely static environment.
Because this was filmed in 2015, the project also sits relatively early in the development of modern cinematic FPV. It demonstrates long-standing experience using specialist drone systems creatively inside complex, high-profile locations for international broadcast - years before indoor FPV flythroughs became a widely adopted commercial filming technique.
